If you have never had the opportunity to praise the Lord in a Holy Spirit filled service before, you will discover at an Apostolic Pentecostal Church that the expressions used in the Bible about praising God are still practiced today. When you attend an Apostolic Pentecostal Church, we encourage you to praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all your heart, body, soul and mind.
As you read these expressions, I ask you to trust how practicing these various forms of praising God will fill you with joy and peace. As you do this please remember that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever” (Hebrews 13.8).
We sing with all our hearts because....
In the Bible we read in Psalm 98:4, “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.”
We clap unto God because....
In the Bible we read in Psalm 47:1, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.”
We dance before the Lord because....
In the Bible we read in Psalm 150:4, “Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.”
We play musical instruments because....
In the Bible we read in 2 Samuel 6:5, “and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.”
We pray together aloud because....
In the Bible we read in Acts 4:24, “they lifted up their voice with one accord”
We lift our hands in service because....
In the Bible we read in Psalm 134:2, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.”
We testify in service because....
In the Bible we read in Psalm 22:22, “I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.”
We shout in service because....
In the Bible we read in Ezra 3:11 "And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endures for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid."
We anoint with oil for divine healing in service because....
In the Bible we read in James 5:14, “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:”
Most importantly, we praise Jesus Christ because He is God...
In the Bible we read in Luke 19:37, "Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying:
“ ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
